Building Resilience Against Burnout by Taking an Empathetic Approach to Oral Pain Management

September 17, 2022 | Noon - 2:00 p.m.

This course will emphasize the theoretical and practical implementation of compassionate patient-centered care to build resilience against burnout. Patient fears and phobias are pervasive within the dental landscape. They affect every aspect of our daily operations, from last-minute cancellations, tardiness, uncooperative behavior, and more. Compassionate patient-centered care begins with acknowledging our patients’ pain and anxiety.

  • Critically analyze the healthcare compassion crisis and its effects on patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Discover how practicing compassionate patient-centered care can increase patient collaboration and cooperation and identify ways to build compassionate patient-centered care into dental appointments.

  • Infer how the fear of pain, needles, and needle phobia affect patient behavior.

  • Accurately compare the advantages and disadvantages of oral pain management products for in-office and at-home use.

  • Develop a forty-second compassionate conversation to have with your patients.
